This page is dedicated to two special goals I have set for myself;

  1. To teach myself HTML
  2. To someday finish building my B9 Robot.

Here are some pics of the Leg and Tread sections. The legs stand 15 1/2 inches tall. I think that is just right.

Procedure

I chose to build the legs first since they are easier to build than the tread sections. The proceedure I followed was this, First I cut the lowest two legs, (number 1 on the plans), then number 2 on the plans and so on till I was done with number 9. I then took my electric sander and smoothed all the flat surfaces and rounded all the edges. The next step is to start with leg #1 and gently staple the first 3 inches of the pipe wrap onto one side of the leg, Then I added some construction adhesive to the inside center of the pipe wrap and then stapled the other side of the leg. I did this till the wrap went all the way around the leg. At the point where the start and finish ends met, I cut the pipe wrap about 1/2 inch long and put some of the Plummers Goop on both of the ends and finished stapling the wrap to the leg. I did the same proceedure to the rest of the legs being very carefull not to tear the pipe wrap.

Next you split the 3/16 vaccuum hose in half and then glue it to the front and back of the legs as shown in the above pics, as well as placing it around the bottom of the legs where they meet the upper Knee Plates.

The next step was to cut out the Waistplate. This was simple to do and there was no special cutting proceedures except to cut the outter ring before the inner ring.

Because the Knee plates were real easy (just 4 equal sized pieces of MDF cut in a rectangle), I cut them next, out side edges first, then the inner cuts. Dont forget to sand these smooth as well.

The next sction I worked on was the Knee's. These were pretty easy too. I first cut them to size, then using the router and 45 degree router bit, I routed all 20 1/2 inch MDF sections. I then glued the sections together with the 45 degree points matching. This gave me 10 sections that I cut out the insides according to Marks plans. Next I had to sand all pieces smooth and glued and screwed them together to get two knee sections, each 5 inches tall. I then put two coats of primer and two coats of Dupli-color Charcoal Gray spray paint. These came out looking great and they are as solid as a rock. (see pics below)

I will post other pics and descriptions of my building techniques later on when I figure out more of this HTML stuff.
